

Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.Is able to perform lensometry, refractometry, applanation tonometry, basic muscle balance testing, assess pupils, assess the anterior chamber, confrontation visual fields and gross external exam.

Is able to take an ocular and systemic history and accurately record visual acuity.Performs testing required by type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and history. Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.Conduct and maintain record and reports for each onsite or individual training that is conducted.POSITION SUMMARY The Ophthalmic Assistant generates important preliminary information to be used by the ophthalmologist reviews patient status and performs medical tests.Assist with developing the content and organization of the online learning training system (Trainual).Lead education and training video development production in collaboration with Marketing and Communication Director.Assist with individual training covering a range of areas such as research regulations and compliance, on the job training and ophthalmology specific training.Ensure training materials meet compliance with regulations.Maintain a database of training materials.Create training materials based on job roles and training needs.Assist with developing content for training workshops, training aids, including training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, and computer tutorials.Assist in conducting needs assessments and analyze training and development gaps with the assistance of the quality assurance (QA) audit findings and suggestions.Serve on the Retina Consultants of America (RCA) Research Training Committee to include planning and development of training programs and activities related to all RCA research site training.Assist in developing and maintaining all training materials for training programs.Day-to-day activities may include all or some of the essential functions listed below, depending upon individual experience / knowledge and the needs of the organization which are subject to change from time to time The training coordinator is primarily responsible for assisting in the coordination of various research specific trainings and projects. This position will design, develop, and deliver a comprehensive training program for all levels of research staff.
